As predicted, and largely owing to expectations when they slap “From the Director of Hairspray” all over it, this looks suitably dire and as much of a mess as the Hairspray movie transition was too.
I first watched the trailer a few months ago, and refrained from commenting on it to ‘give it a chance’ and see if I felt any differently after a few weeks of acclimatizing to it.
Per Hairspray, I am confident that it’ll be a great film in its own right, and enjoyed by the masses, but I can already see that, like Hairspray, a lot of liberties have been taken with the story, characters and casting, and what is being peddled to the masses in no way reflects the actual stage show, which is a shame! (especially when people are likely to go and see the show on the back of the movie, and then grumble about how the show is nothing like the movie).
I’m sure that I’ll watch it and enjoy it, but from the look of the trailer, this is everything that I was, unfortunately, expecting from this film!
It looks so…. fake lol. Terrible, But I’ll probably watch it long after it is out when someone has it laying around lol.

The original show is so fantastically tongue in cheek naff that it really works… the movie really seems to lack that spark and just comes across as, well, a bit naff!
Looking forward to seeing the staging of the musical numbers, but outside of those, I am dreading it!
