Every child of the 80s loved Transformers (Generation One) – RIGHT?!
Greg and I were watching the latest Transformers movie (Revenge of the Fallen) and I happened to mention that I recalled having two (or possibly even more!) of the toys from the original series, but that I wasn’t sure which characters they were, or even if they were official merchandise or not (I didn’t know if they were actual Transformers, or just some other toy that transformed).
Cue Greg (and bless him!) going online and trying to find out exactly which Transformer toys it was that I had.
I didn’t give him all that much info to go on – I just said that one of them was a triceratops, and the other was a white lorry that may have looked like Optimus Prime.
After much effort on his behalf we located that I’d actually owned ‘Slag’ – one of the dinobots, (as an aside, what kind of parent buys their kid a toy called ‘Slag’?! heh – there was also a dinobot called ‘Slapper’ too!) – and an an Ultra Magnus autobot! (though I didn’t have the trailer).
ULTRA MAGNUS
“Consistancy is victory.”
Ultra Magnus is all soldier. Most comfortable when carrying out Optimus Prime’s orders. Possesses magnificent fighting skills, courage, and a gift for battlefield improvisation. Uncomfortable in the mantle of leadership, but presents strong profile as a commander. Carries missile launchers capable of hitting a target 30 miles away. Resolute, fair, and courageous beyond reproach. Ever ready to sacrifice himself for the good of men and mission.
SLAG
“I have no need for friends, even less for enemies. “
Slag is enormously strong, disruptive, and just plain mean-spirited and often brawls with his comrades… which is why they seldom help him when he’s in trouble. Despite his nasty, rash personality, he does share their dislike for authority. His mouth shoots 3000 degrees Celcius flames up to 80 feet and he enjoys melting enemies into pools of liquid metal. He isn’t too bright and likes shattering brick buildings with his head, he also uses an electron blaster in Dinobot Mode.
We got these pictures from THIS website – if you’re a Transformers toy fan, I heartily recommend you visit it – you can even search by colour of toy!
We spent hours looking through it and remembering the good old days! 😀
heh – I tried “transforming” my friends children’s transformer toy and couldn’t do it for the life of me. Gave it to the kid and he done it in two minutes! As for the movies the first one was great but the second was fairly cheesy but kinda funny I guess..

I don’t know about where you came from, but there is no dinobot named “Slapper”. The five Dinobots were…Grimlock, Snarl, Slag, Sludge and Swoop. But you did own 2 cool Transformers. I owned many growing up including Ultra Magnus, I didn’t get Slag though.

Hey,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Slapper comes from here: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Slapper_(Dinobots)
Though I’m from the UK – concede it’s not a main dinobot, but it serves to illustrate my point on unfortunate names heh. Wish that I’d had more than just the two though!
