The Official Charts Company have just released the ‘top 10’ singles of 2009 (based on units sold), which were as below:
1. Poker Face – Lady Gaga
All together now…. “can’t read my, can’t read my, no you can’t read my Poker Face!”
2. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
One of the best feel-good songs around, full-stop!
3. Just Dance – Lady Gaga
This grew on me a lot after my initial dislike for it! The lyrics still strike me as strange though heh.
4. Fight For This Love – Cheryl Cole
LOVE THIS, LOVE THIS, LOVE THIS! (my personal favourite of 2009)
5. The Climb – Joe McElderry
Not a huge fan of the song, but I think he’s cracking! Here’s hoping that he gets a better deal on the songs they do for his album!
6. In For The Kill – La Roux
Electro-pop – the sound of 2009 in my opinion. Love dancing around to this.
7. Boom Boom Pow – Black Eyed Peas
Not my favourite Peas song of the year, for sure… but even I’ve heard of this one. In the right environment, I do quite like this.
8. Killing In The Name – Rage Against the Machine
Sorry – I dislike this song intensely. Most pointless Christmas Number 1 ever, the campaign should have chosen a Christmas song rather than an anti-establishment one.
Mr Blobby, you’re off the hook!
9. Bad Boys – Alexandra Burke featuring Flo Rida
Her album “Overcome” is absolutely awesome, and my favourite of 2009.
10. Meet Me Half Way – Black Eyed Peas
I loved this, but will always remember it for the X-Factor performance where Fergie was clinging onto that grotty bit of moon rope heh!
