T’other week I posted to my blog raving all about Robbie White, but I realise now that I totally overlooked the awesome (and equally, if not hawter!), Drew McOnie.

Wasn’t a huge fan last week (bar his brilliant 30 second dance for survival thing), but he came back this week and paired up with Hayley and together they pulled off an absolutely inspired routine, and blew EVERYONE out of the water!

Given that he’s rather well accomplished on the musical theatre circuit, I really hope he gets to the final!

He left school before completing his A-Levels after being offered the opportunity to understudy the role of Mr Mistoffelees in Cats in Germany – his dream job. Later that year he auditioned for Matthew Bourne, and was cast in the international tour of Edward Scissorhands and went on to perform in Carmen, The Nutcracker, and the original cast of Dorian Grey. This year Drew has worked as choreographer on productions including The Full Monty (Frankfurt), Kes directed by Nikolai Foster (Liverpool Playhouse) and Aladdin (Kings Theatre, Glasgow).

Biography

Born in 1985, Drew started dancing when he was 6, taking classes in disco and freestyle at his local dance school. He appeared in shows, playing the little boy inThe Snowman in both the original West End production and video release.

He was awarded a scholarship to Tring Park School when he was 11. Whilst he was in training, he was offered a choreography scholarship from The National Youth Ballet Company to create his first piece called Monochrome Suite. He later went on to choreograph The Old Man of Lochnagar for the same company. This piece was composed by Nigel Hess, and taken from the book written by HRH Prince Charles with Drew being mentored by Matthew Bourne.
