I picked Camp Rock up on DVD last week whilst on a buying spree to celebrate the arrival of payday, and have to say that I rather did enjoy it!

Yes, it is basically High School Musical filmed in a forest, and although the songs and story were, in my opinion, a little weaker than this film’s more popular contemporary, I found it a fun way to pass 90 minutes, and if honest, I don’t really have too much criticism about it!

Even the Jonas Brothers aren’t all that bad in it (I was fearing the worst!)!

My favourite songs were those featuring Meaghan Martin (who plays the Disney villan of the piece – Tess Tyler)

It’s recently been announced that Camp Rock 2 is soon to be in production (featuring pretty much the same cast) and that the script is near completion.

For those people in the UK without The Disney Channel, Camp Rock will premiere on the BBC over Easter 2009 (schedule to be confirmed).

On a different note, although this format could tire really quickly, I do think that it is good that Disney has discovered the whole live entertainment market and that it now can do stage shows, concerts and really ramp the merchandising up. If doing those things helps to secure Disney’s future… why not let the kids pay for something for us adults to enjoy for once?! hehe.
