Mario Frangoulis – Royal Albert Hall

Last night, I was fortunate enough to be at the Royal Albert Hall to watch Mario Frangoulis (and friends – Justin Hayward, Lara Fabian, Natasha Marsh and Steve Balsamo) perform a selection of arias, operatic numbers and west-end hits.

I must say, I was fantastically impressed!

The venue itself is one that I had not previously been to and so I was very excited about going to the venue as much as I was about taking an evening of classical music and opera.

 

The National Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Anthony Inglis) were on hand to provide the music, and sounded absolutely delightful, whilst Frangoulis himself was on excellent form. At the start of the second part, he even walked back to the stage through the audience – there were so many people reaching out and wanting to touch him, and he obliged, building it into his performance, which I think is rather decent of him! How many other concerts can you go to and have actually touched the main performer?!

I am a fan of classical music and opera and going to the Royal Albert Hall to take an evening of entertainment in has been high on my list for months now. I’m so pleased that I finally got to do it, and especially thrilled that this was the first performance which I have been able to see there.

In fact, I was so impressed that I am already in the process of purchasing some of his albums. Absolutely magnificent and truly a delightful evening – I didn’t stop smiling once! If you get a chance to watch Frangoulis, I’d heartily recommend that you pop along!

    Justin Hayward came on for the last half of “Nights In White Satin” and was also part of the encore when they all sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

    Lara Fabian was also awesome, although I did prefer Natasha Marsh – perhaps as I enjoyed her song choices more.

    It did look like they may have been filming this performance, and so hopefully it’ll come out on DVD one day!

    Yeah, the concert was totally awesome. Do you have any video of the concert to share? Do you know anyone who have it? It would be wonderful to remember this night… the best night of my life 🙂
