As most people will now know, tickets have gone on sale for The Bodyguard – The Musical, playing at London’s Adelphi Theatre from Autumn 2012.
There has been quite a bit of buzz about this show, no doubt boosted by the death of the great Whitney Houston, though as you will often hear people tell you – this show was in the pipework long before the unfortunate happened, and many of us in the West End have been intrigued for quite some time on this one! It’s great that it’s now taking bookings, as hopefully more and more creatives will also come out with regards to it!
What we have here, I reckon, is another Ghost, The Musical – a high-end musical theatre adaptation of a classic 90s film, which is sufficient enough to generate a huge amount of public interest, and could fit in really well on the West End scene, which I think is a fantastic thing!
Loving the film, as I do, I am totally not surprised that someone has recognised the potential for this film to translate well on to a West End stage, and in fact, the only thing that surprises me, is that it took this long for someone to do it!
Listening to this clip of Heather Headley, who will be playing Rachel, singing ‘So Emotional’ it’s impossible not to get swept away in the performance and be left hankering for more, and for that reason, I really can’t wait for this production to fling open it’s doors!
Oh, and if we’re taking sweepstakes on how many encores/reprises of ‘I Will Always Love You’ that there are – I am going to say three! 😉 Any advance…? hehe!
