I was very surprised to find that I saw a paddywagon in London today (I think!).
Stu and I were walking down by Goodge Street and suddenly this small squat black van came flying past with sirens howling and “DXR Police” written along the side of it.
I’m usually quite au fait with police vehicles and their uses within London, however I’d never seen a paddywagon before. After many unsuccessful Google attempts, I found that it kinda looked like the below picture, though the one that I saw was entirely black…
Anybody else ever seen one of these roaming around London?
They looked terribly low compared to the usual Ford Transit vans – certainly not something you’d want to be in the back of me thinks (as with all police cars I guess!).

I saw two of these today in Holloway, sirens on lights on and have never seen them before either. No google answers either.

Judging from the number of google searches that have referred to this page over the last week or so, it seems the the DXR vehicle is getting around quite a bit!
