On BBC One’s “Let’s Dance For Comic Relief” last night, Denise Lewis and Martin Offiah performed ‘Shalalaka Baby’ from A. R. Rahman / Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of Bombay Dreams.
First off, here’s the amazing clip from last night:
… now I thought that this was marvellous, especially as the dancer that I’ve had my eye on for weeks finally got his muscles out!!! 😛 hehe!!! (t’is the one with the cute mop of floppy hair!)

Bombay Dreams was a musical that, in my opinion, didn’t do as well as it should have done here in London. I’d love to see it come back for a few months… let’s try again with the whole ‘Indian Summer’ thing which this was a part of a few years ago!
Hopefully with A. R. Rahman coming to prominence across the World as the Oscar winning composer of the music for Slumdog Millionaire, Bombay Dreams may enjoy a bit of a resurrgence in the coming months.
Here’s a few clips of the music from Bombay Dreams:
Bombay Awakes (the opening score)
Bombay Dreams (a marvellously rich piece of music in my opinion!)
Love’s Never Easy
Shakalaka Baby
Here’s hoping that the Really Useful Group decide to push this one back out there!
