Just wanted to be a little indulgent and share a lovely review from my good friend, Scott, about my book – Medullablastoma and I (A Journey Through Cancer)
Available exclusively on Amazon Kindle and the (free) Amazon Kindle App.
I’ve been putting it off, but at some point I had to read “My Medulloblastoma and I”, by the lovely Gari. Partly, I’d been putting it off because I didn’t want to think about all those low points where I could have been there to help, but didn’t know; and of all those low points where I could have been there, did know, and steered clear because I felt my own insecurities about the fragilities of life would not have helped. And that’s even before we get to my insufferable need to subedit my friends’ words when they’re writing about something tremendously personal to them, but that’s more about my self-obsessive need to be a pedant more than anyting else 🙂
What I do know is that I am so, so glad that Gari has come out the other side of his fight against brain cancer. And his ebook about his experiences is, for all its 99p in cost, essential reading – not least because all of Gari’s receipts go straight to The Brain Tumour Charity.
There are subjects within Gari’s book that he even barely touches on, but even now, after he’s been given the all clear, are clearly difficult for him to talk about in depth to strangers within the confines of a book. But if you’ve got a friend who is going through even the slightest bit of what Gari went through, hopefully this small volume will gear you up to be able to be there for the people that need you. And, with the money it raises, hopefully more of us will, like those of us who know Gari, be able to have friends who have come out the other side.
