Finding Neverland – The Musical

Welcome to my new obsession…

It is such an English story (and the musical has English roots, with early workshops in Leicester and Cambridge before Harvey Weinstein bought the rights and took it Stateside for redevelopment, plus music is by Gary “ugh” Barlow – what a surprise!) that it would be outrageous if it did not make a West End transfer at some point in the next few years.

Finding_Neverland_Broadway_PlaybillUntil I saw the Tony Awards performance, my favourite Captain James Hook has always been Dustin Hoffman in the movie “Hook” – nobody else can hold a candle to him, or so I’ve thought for over 20 years – Kelsey Grammer has just shattered that belief – he’s amazing!!

Of course, Matthew Morrison is no stranger to fellow Glee fans, though it did take me a little while to clock it was Mr Schu – a very versatile move back in to his deep history in the realm of musical theatre, and hopefully he’s brought a few new fans in to the theatre with him!

Have a watch of these clips and tell me that they don’t melt your face off!!

The only let down at the moment is that there is no OBC recording – just some rather iffy concept album. There is genuinely nothing more that I want in the whole world at the moment!!

  1. I asked at the souvenir stand when I saw this and they said there was definitely going to be a regular cast recording as well as the concept album.

It’s a wonderful show full of top class performances. A classic case of politics overtaking common sense in the Tonys.
