As regular readers of my blog will know, I recently went to see Umbrellas of Cherbourg at the Gielgud Theatre, London and had a whale of a time (I am SO gutted that it’s closing early).
One of the absolute highlights of the show was Cabaret star Meow Meow’s version of Sans Toi (Without You) – which had me in absolute floods!!
Yes, yes, yes, it’s in French, however ANYONE should be able to get the general gist of what this song is about; it is so emotive in my opinion. Plus, the French passion/aspect of it really helps to make it even more broody and depressing hehe!
It is truly a delight to see Michel Legrand and Meow Meow perform this number, and if you get chance to see Umbrellas of Cherbourg before the production closes on 21st May 2011, I really recommend you take it – if not to enjoy a fantastic show, but just to see this number performed live!
