Just watched ‘The Mist’ (2007) and I have to say, WHAT A MOVIE!!
The few flaws of the movie are easily forgivable in my opinion (including *most* of the occurances of ham acting!) when taken against the movie as a whole.
I’ve yet to see a bad Stephen King adaptation, however I think that this has to be one of the best! This film takes you through a real rollercoaster of emotions. I’d go so far as to say that it pushes boundaries… you pre-empt where the story could go and think ‘oh God, they wouldn’t show that… surely’ when watching some of the scenes towards the end, however this film takes it there and does it, and does it well in my opinion. I have to admit to a little sniffle or two at the (revised) ending.
The novella itself is very clever I think… after all, what is more scary than the general public?! 🙂
Hmm – I’m a huge stephen king fan but am yet to see a GOOD adaptation! (The Green Mile & Shawshank Redemption are the exceptions but they’re not horror movies like the majority of his books are!). They all seem to be made on the cheap with rubbish actors and directors.
